Mortenson Construction, based in Minnesota but with long-standing Colorado Springs presence, announced today that it was awarded two new construction contracts at Fort Carson Army Base. The projects include the Echelon Above Brigade tactical equipment maintenance facility and the Echelon Above Brigade headquarters.
The projects are the 10th and 11th that the base has contracted with Mortenson’s to complete in the last five years, according to a press release from the company. The projects have totaled more than $364 million.
The tactical equipment maintenance facility will be an 18,000 square foot, $6.5 million facility designed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District, according to the release. Construction will begin in the fall of 2011 and is scheduled for completion in November 2012.
The headquarters building will be a 54,000 square foot, $11.6 million structure, also designed by the Omaha District. The project will begin in September 2011 and completed in the fall of 2012.
