Manufacturing grows at slower pace in February

Manufacturing activity grew more slowly in February as U.S. factories received fewer new orders and paid higher prices for raw materials. The Institute for Supply management, a trade group of purchasing managers, said Thursday that its manufacturing index fell last month to 52.4 from 54.1 in January. Unemployment down in Springs – but still higher than state, nation

Colorado Springs had an unemployment rate of 9 percent in December, according to the latest figures from the Division of Labor and Employment. The number is up from 8.7 percent in November, but is lower than the 9.4 percent unemployment rate in December 2010. Statewide, unemployment decreased one-tenth of a percent to 7.9 percent.
