Penrose makes further visitation restrictions

In the face of increasing swine flu infections, Penrose-St. Francis Health Services is tightening its visitor policy for the second time. Starting tomorrow, Oct. 16, no children younger than 17 will be allowed to visit patients at any Penrose-St. Francis facility. The restrictions include siblings. The information included demographic and medical information for patients who visited the hospital during August and September. Colorado Springs hospitals are working together to prevent the spread of H1N1 swine flu.

Both Penrose-St Francis Health Services and Memorial Health System have agreed on visitor protocols to prevent the flu. People with weak immune systems, women who are pregnant, children younger than 12 or anyone with a fever, cough or sore throat should not visit patients at either hospital.
