Solar-powered road signs saving Springs money

Solar powered speed zone signs in school zones have saved Colorado Springs $1 million, city traffic engineers say. The signs require less maintenance and are cheaper and quicker to install than traditional systems. Sierra Madre closed

A 300-foot stretch of Sierra Madre Street north of the Cimarron Bridge will be closed today and tomorrow. The street will be closed to all through traffic. The suggested detour route is Sahwatch Street. The closure part of the construction of the Cimarron Bridge schedule and is needed to relocate a water line.

The El Paso County Board of Commissioners has approved $1.36 million for the Woodmen Road Improvements Capacity Project. El Paso County is receiving $1.13 million in federal funding.
