Defense team update

The defense team arrived in Washington, D.C. with 25 members, the largest of the chamber’s five teams. The team included representation from our military bases and installations and community and county leaders. We spent two productive days in the Pentagon discussing issues with the Air Force, Army, Missile Defense Agency, the DoD Office of Economic Adjustment and the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs. Next week promises to be a busy one. I’ll be in Washington, D.C., from Feb. 26 through March 2 with the Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative Action Mission.

Sunday: Legislative Action Mission begins

<p>If your phones aren’t ringing as much as usual Monday morning, it could be that many Colorado Springs businesspeople are in windy, cold Washington, D.C. </p>
<p>The Olympic Games in Turino was a compilation of the best winter athletes. We may have the best Colorado Springs business athletes here in D.C.

Tuesday: Security, schedule equally tight

On Tuesday, while we were meeting with the Department of Labor, a loud horn sounded and a message was broadcast over a loud speaker telling us to “shelter in place.”

Tuesday: International Team Update

The international team visited four embassies on Tuesday in an effort to establish more overseas connections for Colorado Springs business and educational institutions. We began with a meeting with the ambassador of Jordan, who discussed the security situation in his country and also provided suggestions to one of our team members about their specific business needs in Jordan.
